APC Waivers and Discounts

The Journal recognizes that authors in certain circumstances may face financial barriers to publication. To support equitable participation in scholarly communication, APC waivers and discounts may be available for eligible authors.

Full APC Waiver

A manuscript is eligible for a full APC waiver if all listed authors are affiliated exclusively with institutions located in countries classified by the World Bank as low-income economies at the time of manuscript submission. Eligible authors can consider it auto-approved, provided no false information is submitted and the request is made at the time of submission.

Partial APC Waiver

A manuscript may be eligible for a partial APC waiver if all listed authors are affiliated exclusively with institutions located in countries classified by the World Bank as lower-middle-income economies at the time of manuscript submission.

The current World Bank country classifications are available at:

World Bank Country and Lending Groups

Waiver requests must be submitted at the time of manuscript submission. Requests submitted after acceptance of a manuscript will normally not be considered.

The Journal may request reasonable documentation to verify eligibility for an APC waiver or discount.

APC waiver eligibility is assessed based on the information provided at the time of submission. Any substantive changes to authorship, institutional affiliations, or funding information may result in a reassessment of waiver eligibility.

Any material misrepresentation, false statement, or omission in connection with an APC waiver request may result in rejection of the waiver request, rejection of the manuscript, withdrawal of a published article, or other actions in accordance with the Journal's publishing policies.

APC waiver requests and decisions are handled independently of editorial evaluation and peer review and do not influence publication decisions.

The applicable waiver amount, if granted under the partial waiver category, will be communicated to the corresponding author following review of the request.
